The man walked away from his car and headed out to seek help in the extreme heat. Temperatures soared to 47 degrees Celsius at the time.

He tragically died while attempting to reach help. The tourist was visiting Death Valley when his car suffered a mechanical fault during the heatwave. He was from the Var area in France. He abandoned his stuck car to look for aid in the 47 degree heat.
