Hamilton-born NHL prospect Matthew Mayich is being treated at an Arizona hospital after collapsing during an outdoor workout. Mayich is an Arizona State hockey skater and a selection for the St. Louis Blues. He suffered the medical emergency while participating in a team practice session outside.

Arizona State is investigating the incident of the player. Mayich is presently receiving care in hospital while university authorities check the circumstances leading up to the outdoor practice. The player remains under medical care in Arizona as the inquiry into the training incident remains ongoing.
