Apple has dismissed 147 Bay Area workers in a unusual step for the company. The job cuts target staff on the Siri, Vision Pro immersive video, and gaming teams. These staff reductions come ahead of an upcoming CEO change at Apple. Bloomberg, Fortune, and the San Francisco Chronicle reported the workforce cuts on 25 August 2026.
Microsoft has also reduced gaming staff at its Hunt Valley location. WMAR 2 News Baltimore reported on 25 August 2026 that Hunt Valley Microsoft gaming employees showed frustration over the sudden job losses.
