Transport for London has suspended £2.067 million in funding to Croydon Council after the borough mayor took out a protected cycle lane worth £230,000 without alerting TfL beforehand. The removal of the plastic posts that separated the cycle lane from vehicle traffic triggered the halt in borough funding. TfL said local transport projects will remain frozen pending a formal review process. The borough mayor gave no warning to Transport for London before taking down the lane barriers. The funding pause puts a range of local schemes on hold.
